Cyrus P. (Cy) Stell is a Senior Engineer with Sain Engineering. He served 3 years as the Resource Efficiency Manager at Fork Polk Army Base in Leesville, Louisiana. In 2009, he became a Staff Engineer at the SEA headquarters office in Birmingham, Alabama. Cy’s specialty is in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning with emphasis in energy efficiency, heat recovery, humidity control and indoor air quality. He has been in the energy field for ten years and has dealt with energy efficiency his entire twenty-eight year career.
Before Sain Engineering, Cy spent five years as an Energy Manager at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center where he worked primarily on optimizing and upgrading the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems, and five years with various firms as a Forensic Engineer where his work included not only Energy Audits but also Indoor Air Quality, Source of Moisture and Mode of Failure Investigations. His previous background was in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Design and Operations.
Cy has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a Registered Engineer (Mechanical) in the States of Texas and Arizona, as well as a Certified Energy Manager by the Association of Energy Engineers. Cy also earned a Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional designation from the Indoor Air Quality Association, is a FLIR-trained Infra-Red Thermographer and has passed the Measurement and Verification course. Mr. Stell has extensive experience in building cooling and heating load calculations and building energy simulations using software such as Trane TRACE, Energy 10, E-Quest, Elite Software and Carrier’s Hourly Analysis Program.
In addition to Mr. Stell’s certifications, he is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers and the Association of Energy Engineers.
