Randy Boyd is an Energy Architect with Sain Engineering Associates. He has 23 years of diverse experience in building energy efficiency and architecture. Mr. Boyd received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, and a Master of Architecture, specializing in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois. He previously worked with the Intergraph Corporation providing graphics support to clients in building construction and heavy industry. Notable clients included US and international governments, and others such as Bechtel, Dow Chemical, Bayer, Fluor, Westinghouse, and Aker-Kvaerner. He later worked for Frucon Engineers, providing structural designs for silicon wafer maker client, MEMC.
Mr. Boyd also practiced with Fuqua & Partners working on Office buildings, churches and schools utilizing his experience in building energy efficiency. Mr. Boyd is a LEED AP and has worked on green and energy efficient buildings, including the LEED-Silver Raytheon building in Huntsville, AL. He is also a Renewable Energy Professional (REP), a credential conferred by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). Mr. Boyd is active in leadership with the US Green Building Council of Alabama. He has served on the Mayor of Huntsville’s Sustainability Council, a volunteer professional group seeking to help the city, its residents and businesses be more environmentally responsive, and to promote green business development in the area.
