SEA, specifically involving Steve Sain & Kenny Spain as instructors, has conducted energy manager training courses of several types for clients throughout the U.S., including Puerto Rico & Hawaii, and from Germany to Jamaica to South Korea. Most of the energy manager students in the training courses have been federal energy managers, especially involving Army or Air Force. From 1993 to 1996, the Sain-Spain instruction team taught the Army Corps of Engineers week-long energy manager training course titled "Energy Management in Federal Facilities". Through this effort, virtually all Army energy managers, and most Air Force energy managers, worldwide, were trained in compliance with the "trained energy manager" requirements of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Additionally, Sain-Spain taught the DoE/FEMP life cycle costing training course for GSA regions in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Washington (DC) & New York City, as well as life cycle costing courses for the Army Reserve Command in Nashville, Orlando & Seattle, as well as for the Army Corps of Engineers in Heidelberg, Germany, & Taegu, South Korea (Taegu class members pictured below). Currently, the Sain-Spain duo are co-instructors for the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) week-long "Certified Energy Manager" (CEM) training course, which includes a 4-hour written examination. To date, they have served as the exclusive in-house CEM instructors for the Air Force, worldwide. Plus, Sain-Spain have taught the CEM course in-house for numerous clientele such as: the Army (multiple sessions), General Motors Corporation (multiple sessions), Northern States Power (multiple sessions), American Electric Power (multiple sessions), MidAmerican Energy (multiple sessions), Jamaica Public Service Company, Invensys Building Systems, Southern Company Solutions, Energy Masters International, New West Energy, and Hawaiian Electric Company.
